I Went Down the Corn Hole.
This year has been a ride so I painted some corn.
(These 3 pieces were done in partnership with the Incognito Art Show. This is a charity event where artists submit artworks to be sold for $100 each, but the catch is that buyers do not know who the artist is until they purchase the piece. These artworks all now live in the houses of strangers who maybe thought they were getting an artwork by someone cooler)
The Space I Feel I Deserve
"Perhaps the artist is uncomfortable existing in actual size. God forbid! She might be an inconvenience to someone! Maybe if her space is small, she will only be a minor inconvenience. What a dream. Of course, it is a major inconvenience to her to have to painstakingly contort herself into such a space, but her discomfort is a small price to pay for the comfort of everyone else around her.
Alternatively, maybe the artist thinks it's funny that portrait prizes have a maximum size limit, but no minimum size. Maybe she forgot about the portrait prize deadline and completed this portrait while travelling overseas with a tight baggage limit. Take your pick."
(This piece was smuggled in to the finalist exhibition for the Brisbane Portrait Prize in 2023. It had a didactic that specified it was in the running for "best illegitimate artwork" and remained hanging for 2 full days before it was noticed by organisers. It was officially counted as an exhibiting artwork as a result.)
Famin Makes
"In 2019, I tried to get help from Women's Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ), which provides free legal advice to women experience domestic violence. I was turned away because they were already at capacity for the night. I watched several other women experiencing domestic violence also get turned away, including one who burst out into tears.
So I decided to start a little project. I sew hats, sell them and donate 100% of the proceeds to WLSQ. I'm a full-time lawyer by day, but I sew at night and on weekends.
I've raised $64,000 so far (August 2023).
If you thing that as one person you don't have the power to change lives by giving back, think again."

Bad Pet Portraiture
Bad Pet Portraiture is the side hustle to end all side hustles, founded in 2020 and launched online in July 2021.
On a whim I concocted a scheme that completely erases the stress and pressure, and allows me to actually enjoy creating art for people. I do custom low quality drawings of pets for an equally low price point. Since they’re marketed as bad, the standards are non-existent. I either meet or exceed them!
With the launch of an online store, bad pet portraiture has reached a wide audience and continues to simultaneously disappoint and delight customers globally.
